Hmm, I used to own an A4 2.8 quattro, and now have the aero wagon.

For me an A6 wagon was out because of the lack of engine options/manual trans. I considered a 2.7T sedan, but while it was fast & surefooted, and you could feel the quality there was something iffy about the aerodynamic and featurelessly rotund styling. My wife neatly summarized it 'It looks like Mr Hankey', and any South Park fan will know thats not a good thing. Suffice to say the A6 was not gracing our driveway.

Once you add up the options, the aenemic audi 2.8 avant is more than the lusty aero. I would get the aero and put the cash saved towards a set of winter tires. Then you will be able to get going in the snow, and also stop again - something quattro offers no benefit for. The extra 8mpg and driving enjoyment once the white stuff has melted away are also worth thinking about.
