I love this car so far. Glad I got the CPO one though.
Since it never had the timing belt done, I decided not to take it on my almost weekly 300 mile roundtrip trip.
I got home monday night and brought it in Tuesday morning. The other nearby dealer (NOT the one I bought from!) has a free rental car agreement with Enterprise for CPO customers. I got to drive a Chevy Aveo to work, boy that made me appreciate my Saab and even my 01 Focus that much more!
They replaced the timing belt and the serp belt and all pulleys, and since it was never done, Saab paid for the timing belt (though most of the expense was still my responsibility). The service dept said it was obvious that NO major service was ever done, and I am at 87k now. I also added a second key since I did not get one with the car, for $200 more. Total cost to me was $680. I ordered floormats from the aprts dept for $120 or so.
I got a free new SID and the thumbwheel bulb for the heater was also replaced for free.
My gas guage was very low after a couple days driving (they started me out with just over 1/4) so I put 3 gallons of regular gasoline and noticed no change in engine response or mileage, which is about 23 in mixed (40% highway?) driving (rated 18-24). When I reset the SID while on the highway going about 70, the instantaneous reading on the SID is 31-33 mpg until I slow down to get off the highway!
I had been keeping my large telescope at a freind's garage for almost a year, and last night I brought it back home. Everything fit in the wagon with room to spare, though I needed the seats folded down which cut out about 4 inches of my legroom (I am 6'1"). This is why I bought the wagon to take my big scope on a road trip, and it meets my requirements!
I did manage to get the extended cargo area a little dirty though (my telescope case has wheels which weren't perfectly clean) anyone recommend a cleaning solution? Since I didn't get floormats the driver's foot area is kinda brown, I am using a plastic cheap set of walmart floormats until the saab ones come in.
Also the rear right door passenger light (there is on on the bottom of the door) was flickering and my drivers door gasket is cracked on the bottom. Is the gasket covered under CPO?
Also more ominously, my right Xenon headlight comes on a half second after the left one. Any ideas there?
Also I mentioned in another thread that the selling dealer (who didnt do this routine maintenance) did re-inspect it and gave me new front tires and brakes (probably worth 800??) but the tires were inflated to 42+ psi cold! I let air out this morning so that it was 35 front/32 back as recommended in the manual. I still got a nice high number for MPG when I reset the SID on the highway this morning.
Overall I am glad I got the car and glad they accepted my offer which i thought was low!
