snow tires and ethical situation

I recently bought my first car, a 99 Saab 9-5 from a dealer known for many years as reputable. The car has Pirelli "all weather tires" and I brought it in to have snow tires put on. For $900 they sold me a set of four Saab snow tires, rims and all. A week later one of the tires blew out on the road and when the tow truck driver rescued us he was shocked that a Saab dealer had sold us the snow tires with the rims. He said they essentially charged you an extra $400 for rims you didn't need. Before I go back to the dealer I wanted to ask if Saabs have a special snow tire that needs a different type of rim and that's why the dealer sold me the whole package. Thanks for anyone who can help me.
