The more I read on the 9-5 here on the board, the more I worry, since I lately bought a 2003 9-5 Wagon, Linear, loaded. Everything is fine. It's now 80k miles (or supposed to) while my 1990 SPG is still in the yard, next to it, with its 350k miles, still in good shape, original engine and transmission, everything works fine, no smoke, no worry.
Are the 9-5 so .. scary? ;-)
My mechanic, who works only on Saabs for decades, swears that 9-5 is the best Saab ever built, though he acknowledges the "sludge" problem, and systematically turns them to standard oil, cause he says that this engine is only problematic when used with Synth oil..
Any comments?
I now envisage refurbishing my old SPG (like new) just in case.. (while I was supposed to resell it..) I still have the 87 convert too.. No problem either..
