If there was a CVT on the market that could handle the output of a high performance engine such as the one we spoke of,I think that would be great, but the fact is,that is farther off on the horizon than the electro-hydraulic one I mentioned. The paddle shifted one is in the 9-X,and could become reality much sooner than a CVT. There was a great article on the E-H transmission as used in the new M-3 about two months ago in Road and Track or Automobile(forgot which). Although the M-3 installation struck me as kind of experimental, clearly this is a better way to shift than a conventional clutch and lever.
