The official answer from Saab Cars USA is that the only phone in the US that will work in the manner it was intended is the Nokia brand of phone. Only the Nokia 2100 (still available??), 5100, or 6100 series of phones will connect directly into the Audio system and allow for full integration of the phone. ONLY the Nokia system does not require the addition of buttons or switches to ground the mute signal. The Nokia phones do it automatically and they are the only phone in the US to offer that feature.

Saab Cars USA investigated 15 of the most popular brands of phones before writing their phone installation instructions to find that the most premium and best integrated phone installation was the Nokia brand.
