I would have to agree with Göran. Nokia is NOT the only phone you can install. If that is what SaabUSA says, they are mistaken. Perhaps their information is not up to date.
As long as the phone in question has an ability to externally send the voice and mic signals, and charge itself from 12V it can be used. If it has ANY external means of signaling and incoming call, it can be made to work with the negative ground trigger in the Saab. The install really can not be simpler. Incompatibility is not Saab's fault, but that of the phone manufacuter. The negative ground trigger has been standard for quite some time. I can remember installing aftermarket Pioneer radios in friends cars in the mid ninetys and wondering who the hell was using that funny cell phone mute wire (a neg trigger sensing wre)
To use the kit, their are two wires that replace the speaker, two that replace the mic. (these could be picked up from a regular "handsfree" kit, if a car kit is not available.) Their is a 12V+ and a ground wire that could be picked up from a car charger if the manufacturer does not make a car kit. The very last thing (that is really why the car kit is needed) is a signal wire that tells the SID the phone wants its attention. As long as the phone has some means of doing this, it could easily be converted to a ground signal. If a phone manufacturer makes a "car kit", it would cover at least the speaker, mic, power and ground integrated. It may or may not have a signal wire. If it does the install is cake, if not the install will not be fully integrated.
Nokia is not the only manufacturer to offer a car kit that sends a signal to the audio system. If I read the posts correctly, there are at least three other manufacturers mentioned in this series of posts that do (Ericsson, Samsung, Qualcom)
