I would get the ugly 2006+ car. They cheapened up the interior, but worked most of the rest of the bugs out by then, better subframe bushings which will save you some hassle and $$$. I would by a car from the SE US that has not seen road salt, another benefit of buying an SE car is that the Saab resale value is low in this region, they are not popular here and no no one wants to buy one, so they are dirt cheap with the benefit of not having without a rusty body exhaust system and undercarriage. Look on Saabnet or auto trader. Saw a white 08 wagon for sale recently.
After having one Saab from MI, I will never buy another used car from the rust belt. On a 30k Saab I had to replace the exhaust system right off the bat, work underside, on brakes and in engine bay is more difficult due to corrosion.
