I completely agree. People on this board have stated that they don't feel much of a difference with the aftermarket ECU's below 3K R's. I have the Speedparts Stage 2 in my '99 2.3LPT and this is not true at all for my car. If the car is a manual, it all has do w/ being in the right gear, first of all. However, you don't have to redline our cars to get them to go. I can floor my car in 2nd up to 3K and then ease up on the gas and shift (yes, being smooth, no not making the car "buck") and it is pretty darn quick. It pushes me and my occupants into the back of our seats and holds us there. If I do continue up to redline (very rare) and then into 3rd and get on her again, she just holds you there. It's a great feeling. This all just depends on how much power you're looking for. I feel like some people don't understand that you can floor a 5spd (meaning put the pedal to the floor) w/out taking it to redline. I'm probably wrong, but it just seems like it sometimes w/ the way people talk. Also, when I get on mine in 2nd, I shift out of 1st around 3K usually (sometimes lower) and the tach falls to right around the 2K mark in 2nd (when I put the pedal down). I don't experience any turbo lag at all. It just pulls...and hard. The only time I'm able to experience turbo lag is if I take it to high RPM's in 2nd and then floor it when I engage 3rd...there's a slight pause, and then it feels like the back end sqauts and I am pushed forward authoritatively, again. I hope this helps.
