The accuracy of a typical GPS receiver is about 1/10 of a mile per hour, although not all units display speed to the tenths digit. The discrepancy between your car's readout and the GPS does seem a bit large, but without any other input,I would say the GPS is more likely to be correct. One small thing to make sure of though, is that the gps isset to read US miles and not Nautical miles,as most units are designed to be user changeable so they can be used in planes and boats as well as on land.
