Respectfully, I don't see how you can talk about "imaging" in a car. You might talk about detail and accuracy of reproduction, but "imaging", at least for me, means the development of a soundstage between ( and sometimes) beyond the space between the speakers.In a good sound system you get a distinct stage developed between the speakers. In a really good sound system, you can even get three-dimensional modeling between and beyond the speakers ( I've worked pretty hard on this with my home system- Totem Mani2 speakers, Audio Research preamp, Marsh A400 amp, MIT cables. )
I agree with the earlier comment about the Bose systems' bass being disembodied from the music- although the Bose systems do a wonderful job expressing mid and upper range information, which is most of what we listen to. I think the Harmon Karden system in my new 9-5 is okay, but not great. Maybe a speaker upgrade is in order down the line?
