Salesmen don't know much when it comes to Saab safety. The US government keeps fatality statistics. The average car in the US in 98 and 99 had 19.5 deaths per 100,000 registered vehicles. Saab had 2 deaths per 100,000 registered vehicles in their 98, 99 and 00 cars. By comparison Volvo had over 6 with their 98, 99 and 00 models; very good but not nearly as good as Saab. Audi stats are very good as well but since I have no way to know how many Audi's have been imported, I can not say whether they are as safe or safer than Saab. Audi had twice as many deaths as Saab in their 98, 99 and 00 cars in 98 and 99 but whether Audi sold twice as many cars or more I could not say.
