This is one thing that's wierd about Saabs: their market value plummets initially, but when they get to a certain age, their market value remains relatively high, especially in places with snow. I can see why, too. My parents bought an 86 Camaro, which they gave to me (and then I gave back to them...different story). We both poored money into that car, which had 150k miles on it. I often compare cars by comparing the number of outright engineering errors on them. For instance, my truck (a Jeep) has around 5 real flaws in my opinion (for example, seat belt locations and cooling system). I have yet to find an engineering fault for my 9-3. For the Camaro, I stopped counting because there were too many to track.
Even though the 9-3 is often attacked for its suspension (particularly the rear suspension) and perhaps its body flex and torque steer, it is a very well engineered car. (By the way, I consider the latter three to be design choices and not necessarily flaws.
