this is what happened.
With seat installed in car & plugged in, seat coming from house at room temp. and car in garage at about 25 degrees F. Plugged in, car off, and using digital VOM as you suggested at the plug, I get the following:
1. With dash switch at 3, voltage at yel/wht wire in plug is 11.25V
2. At exit of seat wiring, black wires, and between chassis ground, 0.200V
3. With all plugged in, measuring from yel/wht wire to chassis ground, the resistance measures about 160 ohms.
However, just as I finished taking these readings (less than 2 minutes), I hear an audible "click" coming from the dash controller, and suddenly voltage is ZERO. Just like that, it shut itself off! I felt the seat top (cover still off) and the grid is warm, not yet hot.
I suspect now either the controller is weak & dropping out OR the feedback is no good, telling the controller the seat is HOT. I am not sure what signals should be going back to it, but I am measuring between 6 and 4 volts. I measured the resistance at the plug, and got a value within I think 10% ohms of what was stated on the Townsend site, so I do not see any gross difference from his value.
Given this info, what do you think?
Thanks for your previous reply!
