OK, thanks for the second epistle.

To answer your question about the seat resistance first. When I had the seat on my kitchen table @ 70 deg. F, the resistance thru the seat cushions with both plugged together, reading at the PLUG, yel/wht (in) to black (out) the seat only read a fraction of an Ohm, maybe 0.5 or even 1.0.

When the seat is installed in the car, measuring in the end of the "connected" plug from the yel/wht to the CHASSIS under my seat mount, I got the 160 ohm reading. I am suspicious of how good/bad my ground connection is. I know the center of the car is famous for having drinks spilled there due to the non-cup holders, so I wonder if the ground is rusty? I checked previously from the black pin of the "car" plug (from controller) and the ground was OK but I had to really scrape the chassis to get a good reading.
Second point, knowing a bit about heat transfer I understand this system is for conduction, not convection. The grid was warm but I am sure not hot. I will try this test again tonite with the car having soaked in the garage all day at 20 deg. F, so maybe the controller will stay on longer. I will test this out. Perhaps this would provide toasty buns, but my gut instinct says for conduction thru leather it should have been hotter & on longer.

Third point, the feedback device (a thermistor I think?) was reading about 1260 ohms, which was maybe 140 higher than the example on the Townsend site FAQ, so perhaps I should already be fooling the controller to staying on longer? I think tonite I will hook up this device at the connected plug from startup to shutoff and see how much swing in the resistance during the heating process.

I still have the seat cover bottom off, and did not want to button it all up until I know that all is well under the leather! So I will check this all out again tonite, perhaps I will measure the time until it drops off on the 3 setting & further check the quality of the ground. I think I have read somewhere this ground point is under the shift console somewhere, can you confirm this? Finally, could I trouble you to see how long you controller stays on before dropping out? Cold is cold, so whereever you are I think we should have similar times for the unit to shutoff.

Thanks for the help, you have provided the MOST of it since I started using this BB 2 months ago.

I will advise findings,

DET
