The part number never changed so far as I know, and casual visual inspection does not reveal any differences. I know SPG9 carried uprated LCAs which have been boxed to improve strength.
I'm still unconvinced that this has actually happened to anyone while moving forwards. While I grant that it happening at all sucks, the chances of anyone getting hurt (seriously or otherwise) while backing up with the wheel cranked are so ridiculously low I don't think it's worth the effort to pursue - the problem has been known for years, and Saab has never done anything about it. That either means they don't think it's a problem, or they *know* it's a problem and they plan on covering it up. Either way, this isn't a winning scenario... :)
KMD: Do you have pictures or can you expound on the circumstances before and after your failure? Were you going forwards or backwards?
