Saab Friends,

The list of items I removed were from underneath the car; the drive axles(with the steering knuckles attached), hung the brake calipers on the springs, the center cross member(you have to temporarily remove the lower control arms to pull it out), the skid pad, unbolted the exhaust from the exhaust manifold and just swung it over to the right lower control and tied it up(damn thing was basically rusted together but this is actually easier than unbolting it), loosened all exhaust manifold bolts but only removed the center part and left the other dangling(because I didn't want to remove power steering support bracket), the shift linkage pin, and presto like magic the tranny belly was exposed!

I had the availability of air tools which really made the removing(and installing) of so many bolts a snap. On the top side I opted to remove the radiator because I thought it prudent to protect the thing from an accidental slip of a tool rupturing it(or the front motor mount ). I also removed the front motor mount while it was in the car to give me better clearance.

By the way step by step instructions are available in the "Frequently Asked Questions"(FAQ} sections of the Saabnet, or at thesaabsite.com. I have no experience with top removal but you would have to remove a considerable amount of connections either way the way I see it.

Thanks for the comments, I love it!

Vitas
