Tagu,
Glad I could be of some assistance.. To answer your questions, yes, 95% of the time I listen to my system 'flat'. Every once in a while if it is an oldies song or something that is a bit quiet or sounds muffled, I will bump up my mids (my head unit has a 3-band EQ, high/mid/low) 1, maaaaybe 2.. But that's about it. As far as your sub goes, if your head unit has a subwoofer output control, that's great. Just remember to tune to a music genre that you listen to the most. Then every once in a while when you are listening to a different type of music, you can cut or boost your sub by or or maybe 2. I would set the low pass crossover on your sub amp to somewhere between 65-85 hz, whatever sounds best to you. If you get too low, songs can seem to lack bass unless you have a dedicated midbass driver. If you go too high, songs will sound too 'boomy' and not sound too good with hard bass hits up around 100 hz. I would then highpass the crossover on all 4 of your 4-channel amp's channels to the same frequency, or even a bit higher than the frequency that you set the crossover too on your sub amp. Don't worry if your subs at crossed at 70 and your speakers at 80. You will still hear the frequencies in between, and this can actually help your music blend together better. Remember, a crossover doesn't just 'shut off' all frequencies above or below it; it slowly quiets them (for lack of a better word). So if you have your high pass set to 80, then the frequencies at 70 will still play, just at a lower volume than the ones at 80. The Crossover's can have different slopes; some are 12 db/octave, some are 18, etc.. This just means that, for example, for every octave you change, the volume will be reduced by 12 db. Anyways, keep the questions coming if you have anymore.. Good luck!
