1) yes, that is correct. Usually amps will double their power when the ohm load increases. My Adcom amps are 75w @ 4 ohm, 150w @ 2 ohm, 300w at 1 ohm & it's stable to .5 ohms :o) However when the ohm load increases the distortion does as well.
2) A good way to adjust the gain is to turn the gain down & put in a favorit CD. Then turn the radio dial to about 75-80% of it's max volume & adjust the gain on the amp just shy of where distortion kicks in. Be sure loudness is off & bass/trebel/midbass is at zero/neutral when you do this!
3) if you have a stereo which plays 100 db & is powered by a 100w amp, it would take a 200w amp to produce a volume of 103 db. 400w would equal 106 db etc. Anyways, set the gains the same way as I mentioned above except put a bass heavy CD in.
