Alternative Timing Chain Replacement - 2 Q's...

I'm attempting to replace the timing chain in my '93 900 Convertible non-turbo. I've purchased the new chain from the Saab dealer and opted to go for the "Alternative" one with an open link in the chain to make replacement easier. Two Q's...
1. Good decision or bad decision to go with the open link chain option for easier installation?
2. What are the Steps from start to finish, even the small obvious ones, to accomplish replacement of the new timing chain? I'm generally a good mechanically minded person (for many cars I've done my own brakes, mufflers, plugs, alternators, etc). However attempting my own timing chain replacement is beyond my comfort zone, but something I'm willing to attempt.
1. Valve cover is removed.
2. Flywheel is already at TDC.
3. Old Timing chain is still fully installed.
4. The engraved lines on the 2 shafts directly under the valve cover that operate the lifting of the valves are not lined up with the "v" arrows on the holders that they rotate in.
5. What next for replacing with open link chain???
Thanks for any input you all can provide...
Jeff
