If you will look at the inside of the rear of the hood on the outer edges you will see two pins with enlarged pointed heads. If the hood is impacted these pins are pushed into a receiver hole at the front edge of the body, locking the hood into position.
If you ever have to try to open the hood after an accident you will see that the system works very well. I have 50 -60 wrecked C900's and I've never seen a hood go up over the windshield or into the windshield
