This one takes the cake: my '93 900S has an idle problem that I am demoralized to say I cannot fix. Specifics: Worse when cold, even worse if left sitting for days; irratic "putt putting" out the exhaust like not running on all cylinders; problem started as minor rumble and almost indetectable skip as soon as I got the car back together after a trans. swap and head gasket job. The problem has gotten progressively worse. Once warmed up somewhat, the rough idle is always there but not nearly as bad as at first 30 seconds of running - car runs smooth as silk when driving, no matter what I'm doing. Here are the items I've either swapped with new, or swapped with known good from a previous identical car of mine: plugs, coil, wire, cap, all fuel injectors (w/new o-rings),fpr,fuel pump, fuel pump check valve, amm, aic, tps, cleaned throttle body, all new vacuum hoses, charcoal cannister valve. Checked compression - 190-200 psi. in all 4 cylinders. Made the typical electrical checks on all LH components - no faults. So get this, when the problem first started happening there weren't any LH fault codes. Now that it's gotten worse, I GET A FAULT CODE THAT IS NOT IN THE BENTLY OR SAAB LH FUEL INJECTION MANUAL: THE FAULT CODE IS 12254, and yes I quadruple checked this procedure to make darn sure I wasn't misinterpreting the flashes. This seems like such a stretch to me, BUT COULD IT BE THAT THE LH CONTROL UNIT IS ALIVE BUT MENTALLY DISABLED, GIVING ME A BOGUS FAULT CODE AND PUZZLING IDLE PROBLEM?? This has got to be super rare - I'm looking for someone out there to call me insane or sympathize with having perhaps suffered the same problem. Thanks for any insight (and sorry for the long posting, but I've practically rebuilt this darn car trying to fix this problem).
