By switching the car off with the vent switch at different settings (pay attention to floor, defrost, and face settings) and checking for vacuum after ten minutes or so you can find out if you have leaks there, but as 'jet says, they're unlikely.
You can also disconnect the vacuum line that feeds the reservoir and put a golf tee in it to plug it.
Did you gap the plugs? That's the only variable left. Are they the right temperature range for your non-turbo car? Sounds like this thread is grinding to a halt; I'd go after the engine tach signal to the ECU first since it has a code for that.
