I think what you did prior to your brake adjustment screw was to tighten ALL possible cable-line things...i.e. the screws at the hand brake as well as the adjusters on the cable as it connects to the body under the seat...in an attempt to fix without knowing about the adjuster screw,
Lets assume you adjusted the rear screw at the rotor/ca;iper correctly.
Now back off the body-to-cable spinny thing under the seat 1/2 a turn. Test drive...(test brake), and check again (I guess that heat works,, maybe spray WD40 to determine hottness by smoke (?)...
This should do it.
