The rubber section of the lines are old and the rubber swells inside. This allows the brake fluid to be pushed through the line, but won't return to the brake master cylinder. Had this problem happen to me on an old VW van. Boy! was I stumped until and older mechanic, this is me now, told me about the rubber lines. If you can't believe this, just open a bleeder while it's hot and see if fluids under pressure when it's opened. It's not the emergency brake, that's mechanical!
