Bob! On the Saabsite Web site, under facts on this part, it's states that this valve just restricts the flow at idle to keep the warmer coolant in the heater core. Fixed the 93/900s with one straight barb and another 90 degree barbed fitting. I don't remember the size as I just took the old fitting with me and matched the size. Seems to work just fine as I was worried about engine cooling. I thought that the valve by-passed the heater core when the control knob was turn to OFF heater position and returned the coolant to the engine. I'm going with what the Saabsite recommends, Elimination of this valve. They just say "couple the hoses" DUH! I guess we have to decide what couplings to use. A straight and a 90 degree is what works for me. I also looked at my 91/900s and the hoses are just in and out of the heater core without this valve, so I just make the 93/900s hose route the same way. This is without replacing the hose with an older model 900 coolant hose. You can also do just the hose replacement but, four dollars later and the 93/900s is back on the road with just the barbed nipples.
