Try disconnecting the black O2 sensor wire to the computer next time before a cold start. Drive it like this and see if it cures the problem
A 'bad' AMM is always mis-diagnosed! You can swap AMM between cars, and the only real effect could be an increase in emmissions if not calibrated within a reasonable range. During ALL throttle positions except WOT the o2 sensor is HUGELY responsible for fueling. If o2 sensor is old and slow it will still work, but will cause mixture overshooting as the computer is trying to compensate and it is not given accurate/timely feedback.
To back this point up: In my car I have installed a wideband AFR gauge accurate to .1 AFR. Without the o2 sensor at 60 MPH the AFR is 15.7, with it plugged it will swing between 14 and 15 like its supposed to. This is a large amount of compensation...the factory fuel mapping is only vauge, and the purpose of the o2 sensor is to have proper mixtures in a wide range of operation.
you can buy a generic three wire o2 sensor for under $40, so if its more than 3 years/30000 miles you should have already replaced it anyways. this is a tune-up item folks! with out it you loosing money every time you drive it.
