I don't own a vert so I'll let others chime in (or search this bb, tons of info), but as I understand it the condition of the top is one of the big items you might run into as a repair - ie a good top is valuable...
Other than that, a c900 is the perfect complement to the 9-5. We have both, and the 9-5 is a fantastic touring car, whereas the c900s are much more raw, and an absolute blast to drive.
They weren't all turbos + you definitely want a turbo 16 valve. 1989 was a fantastic year (imho the best). 75k is ridiculously low miles these days so it should be in great shape. That said rubber parts may be deteriorating, so take a close look over them. The engines in these cars are virtually bomb proof. It is nowhere near as fragile as the 9-5... my indy put more than double 318k miles on his c900!
automatic is the big downside. it's a 3 speed, and though it drives well for 3 gears (when it's working), it is relatively fuel inefficient due to high rpms on the highway (needs 1 more gear). They are also quite fragile. Expect about 150k out of them if well maintained. Some here have gone longer 200k+), and many less. Ford type F *only* and change it religiously! The c900 really is meant to be a stick, and basically the strategy is typically drive the auto tranny till it dies and then do a swap for a manual... but that does mean pulling the whole motor because the tranny is underneath, so if you don't DIY it, it will be costly... lots of info on the web/this bb on this... CMyles here is the man for tranny info...
Other than that, rust is the #1 thing to look for. check under the carpets (especially drivers seat footwell + drivers side rear footwell for rust resulting from brake lines leaking)... rust in around the battery, shock towers, fenders (tiny bubbles there indicate more under the trim), under the tail light (pull carpet inside)... rust is really really expensive to repair properly. And oil spray if you plan to drive it in Michigan winters!
In summary rust is the only thing that should kill these cars now - everything else is repairable, but tranny + top are fairly big ticket. Otherwise, all the tricks + tips are on this bb... you'll love it. there's a reason the c900 is creaming all else in Scott's poll.
good luck!
