Is the transmission a Saab design? Or did Saab purchase their auto box from Z-F or another manufacturer? FWD auto box with the engie facing rearwards sounds similar to what John Delorean put in the rear of his cars. Possible Renault or Peugeot design? I have a cousin who drove a Renault 30+ years ago which had its engine in the rear.
I know Ford Type F fluid was used by dragracers for years because it apparently has better friction properties for the clutch plates - less slipping. Based on your comments I have to assume the clutches are the weak link in this auto box.
Thanks for your comments and information!
