It's only a direct swap... Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Thu, 21 Feb 2013 06:34:15 In Reply to: CD Player /Graphic Equalizer Combination, Ed, Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:34:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...if you have all the rest of the setup. The combo CD/EQ only works with the last Saab/Clarion that went into the 900 & 9000 (from 1992, IIRC). This is also the system that has the rear speaker amplifier under the rear seat.
None of the late units will plug into the earlier sleeves in the dash.
If you want that setup, best to source the entire system out of the later car. From the middle 80s Saab made a standard pair of connectors behind the dash. Either wiring harness, for the -91 or the 92- will plug into that. With the 92- you also have the option of a CD changer in the trunk.
But honestly, as someone who loved to keep his 900 stock, I long ago decided to use an aftermarket head that works with my iPhone in a daily driver. If I wanted to keep the stock look for shows, that's easily enough swapped for a weekend...
