Kudos on getting it out whole. I've gone through the exercise a few times. Retrieval is a bit of an involved process that requires a bit of patience.
The transplant is a neat idea however ....
A number of the pinouts on the bulkhead connectors are different between the two years so, as much as it might look like a drop-in, it's not necessarily that easy.
To do it, you'd need to do some serious study of Bentley and the factory electrical manuals for the connector pinouts for the two years and, where necessary, do some judicious splicing under the dash so the car's existing wiring would go to the right pins on the bulkhead connectors.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any source that has tables of the pinouts for the two years to they could be directly compared.
To add to the mess, in mid-91, SAAB changed the number of pins on the connectors from 25 to 33.
The LH wiring harness is separate from the rest of the wiring harness, other than for a few wires for power to the ECU and power for the fuel pump(s).
