70 MPH vibration - a couple more things to consider Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 10:41:00 In Reply to: Tripod Bearings: replace w/o removing driveshaft?, Shaun in YVR, Thu, 6 Nov 2014 10:59:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had the same 70 MPH and above vibration on my '89 SPG.
Turned out to be the result of a few things:
- Passenger side shock absorber was completely dead - piston moved with no resistance. Drivers side wasn't far behind.
- Passenger side front upper A-arm bushing lost half of its rubber due to old age and exhaust heat.
Replaced those. The ride calmed down and became as smooth as burlap. (The replacement shocks are KYB Gas-A-Just.)
