Roger, enjoyed your comments on the 9-5 board over the years. As to this Saab, as mentioned, rust never sleeps. First strike against this car imo is that it is an automatic. IF it was a low mileage example with the preferred manual gearbox, the only way to consider the endeavor of removing the rust is to do a total strip down of the body & get it all done at once. Unfortunately this is not a financially sound idea at this point with what the value is of this car. When we moved from the Midwest to the Southwest, I sold a '92 900S (Talladega Red) 3 dr. which had been my late father's last car. Interior & exterior was in tip top shape but the underside was less than desirable. So rather than drag rust to this area I sold it. Remarkably the car is still going with over 200K miles on it but the rust remains & the owner monitors it closely. In summary, unless you intend to make this car a keeper it is not financially wise to go forward with thoughts of purchasing & rebuilding it. Hope this helps!
