Winter use == terminal rust Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Tue, 9 Jan 2018 10:06:02 In Reply to: Possible 900 purchase, Mxfrank, Tue, 9 Jan 2018 08:59:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My primary concern with using a nice C900 as a daily driver would be salted winter roads eating it alive. I really regret now having used my '86 900S as a year-round driver for so many years. With nearly 300,000 miles it still runs and drives practically like new but the body is very badly rusted.
Of course if you live in a place where there isn't winter this won't be a problem. Here in the salt belt you really wouldn't want to be driving a classic anything during winter.
As far as the parts situation goes, "Notnoel" pretty much nailed it. Most things are still generally available but some of the aftermarket stuff is very poor quality and some things are only available used. Be sure you have an alternate vehicle available for those times when you'll be waiting for parts.
