You can run less boost on a motor that is properly tuned (ie flowed). Example>>
15-16 PSI on stocker motor (tuned) = maybe 175-180 hp.
8-10 PSI on ported polished head (tuned) = maybe 175-180 hp.
8-10 PSI on a boost built motor (tuned) = maybe 225 hp.
MAX psi is not nearly as important as tuning the boost you can get reasonably. Too much boost = wearing the turbo out/heat soak/oil coaking/bearings dead/ etc.....
In this case i think boost quantity is not nearly as important as boost quality.
I am also having a motor buily from SPG9 and will be running a stage 2 APC and expect 300+ horsepower out of ~18 PSI and my turbo will last....my .02 worth....
