I have an idea with your "yellow stuff". My first Saab, an 85 900T had some kind of crap on the dipstick once something like that. Does it sort of look like mud, but yellow-ish brown? One day, I checked the oil, and on the dipstick mixed with the oil was this gunky, muddy looking crud that was sort of a baby-puke 77 Buick Skylark nasty brownish yellow color. I screamed out a bunch of profanities right at a public gas station without even thinking about it (I was 19), and the mechanic there told me not to worry about it, that I had probably driven through a mudpuddle just right, and some water may have splashed up under the oil cap and dripped down the dipstick tube, mixed with the oil and frothed. He said to go home and change the oil and see if it goes away. It did. Now, I don't know if the "water under the oil dipstick cap" theory is correct, but it sure is closer than anything than I could possibly think of. I also might add that it was about this time of year, and probably about the same weather conditions. And yes, about a week later, my turbo blew (or, didn't blow, actually). No big deal, replaced the turbo in about 5 hours my first time, and drove the car till it met with a deer a year or two later with no further indication of yellow stuff. I'm still almost positive that the yellow stuff and the turbo blowing was completely coincidental, but your post makes me think twice.
