the vehicle design process. It doesn't make economic sense to go back in and re-do them later. It is actually cheaper for a car company to pay warranty on any claims than to redesign the offending part. I remember reading an interview with a Saab President (I forget which one--the real Saab-head from the 80s) who said they always got complaints about the glove compartment door on the C900s. Yup, it doesn't fit. Go back and redesign? Not a chance. There is no value in it for the company and doesn't stop many people from buying another Saab.
The door lights are annoying, easily fixed with a slightly longer screw and a small washer. My car is one done, 1 to do this weekend, 2 doors to go!
Heated seats seem to die on every car I've seen with them--usually due to owners or a kid kneeling on the seat. Hardly the mfgrs fault. Again not hard to fix. I've been in MBs where they don't work either.
DK about door handles. Mine are fine. How hard do you pull them??
My electronics seem OK. Just a bulb here and there. But think about the electronics. When these cars were designed automotive electronics for stuff other than the ignition system and maybe ABS was a new thing. There is a price for being an early adopter--which some of us (as 2nd or 3rd owners of our cars) get to pay. 8^(
But you are right in that it would be nice if they paid attention to the little stuff, but given a choice, I'd rather they put the effort into the great B234 engine and safety features than the little stuff.
