My friend gave me his old 88/9000s after he got all the miles he wanted from it. The electrical wiring started going bad and rust was taking over. I helped him keep it running for the last five year of its usage. So, he asked me if I wanted it. Sure!, but I can strip it down and use the transmission, rear axle, body panels, etc. The engines fine, as he had it replace by not checking the oil in the old one. If my turbo motor was to fail, I could replace it with the 9000s engine, but I wouldn't try to make it a turbo since it's a completely different engine. Fix-up a second hand 9000 turbo project car. You'll be less disappointed. Noel's correct in stating that there's too many internal parts that make turbo engine, turbo stronger. Even the drive axle spline shafts are bigger. Were not saying it can't be done, it's just that the chance of blowing the engine is a high percentage.
