as you rightly suspect, the switch from the passenger side is electrically different from the one installed on your driver's side. ground is supplied from the memory module to the motors on the driver's side while it is supplied directly via the switch on the passenger side. and yes, both the passenger and driver seat motors direction are determined by DC polarity, however, on seats with memory, position sensors/limit switches are integral to the motor housing. you may be able to bypass them, but, i don't see how. so, if you can't get the seats motors to function(other than the reclining seat back motor)with an external power supply i'm not optimistic that even rewiring the passenger side switch would do the trick. wouldn't it be simpler in terms of time and energy to procure the correct memory module?
