Oldsaab is correct - it does display the lowest cranking voltage
after you start the car, until you drive away - then it changes to
whatever thing you have it set to display.
As I said - during winter my cranking voltage reading went WAY
down to like 7 volts on a (-30F) cold morning and the car STILL
started just fine !!! This tells me the circuit monitoring this
voltage is wrong because if it were correct the car would NOT have
started at that temp with thick oil, etc.
So I ask this:
If the car is otherwise functioning normally - why care ?
(It is just a number displayed for a short time...)
Tonight it is around 50F here and mine said 8.9V - and started
instantly after cranking very rapidly.
Seems to me it just has an offset of 2 or so volts and when I do
bother to look at it, I just think of how well it started and
mentally add a couple of volts to the reading and it makes sense.
But that's just my 2 cents !
Best Wishes,
mark
