This is a poor choice.Lead acid batteries do not want to be charged above 13.8 volts DC indefinitely, which is why the algorithm for the regulator from Bosch migrates from 14.4 volts to 12.7 volts as you drive. A fixed regulator will boil the electrolyte out of a battery and degrade the plates.
Even the newer lead/antimony plated batteries require a tapered charged from 14.5 to 13.5 volts.
A starter wants 10.8 volts and high current. Halogen headlamps are capacitive and work well with anything above 11 volts.
