Check the temperature of the large tube (suction) between the evaporator and compressor. It should be cold with the engine above 1500 RPM. I had a sticky expansion valve that caused the suction tube to cycle from cold to ambient temperature. Try tapping on the expansion valve while the A/C is operating.
The expansion valve is not hard to replace. A good long draw down is best, years ago a A/C supplier showed, with an electronic digital gauge that measured torr, how the vacuum would continue to pull down for some time. They recommended pulling a vacuum for 4 hours. A far cry from common practice.
It maybe possible the temperature flap is stuck or otherwise allowing heated air into the system. Disassembly of the dash is required to visually see if the flap is moving. Have you tried max cold by selecting the minimum temperature? Have you performed a system calibration by pressing the ACC upper left and lower right buttons simultaneously. This can be a bit tricky, when they say simultaneously, it pretty much requires that to work.
