The recirculation damper can be seen with the aquarium cover off. On the right end of the A/C housing is the recirculation servo motor, and a hole into the A/C housing. The damper rotates about 90*, and can be seen with a flashlight through the hole. When in recirculation mode, the damper is horizontal and is blocking the lower portion of the internal passage. In normal mode, the damper is vertical at the back of the passage.
I had a recirculation servo motor stick at a dirty spot on the motor commutator. Tapping on the motor might get it to make contact and start rotating. Otherwise the actuator can be removed and the commutator cleaned up with very fine sand paper. The hard part about removing the actuator is, 1 of the 3 slotted mounting screws is behind the actuator and hard against the firewall. When taking off the actuator, be sure to stuff paper towels or rags in the crevasses under the actuator, to prevent any wayward screws or screwdriver from falling out of sight. Sometimes gravity is not wonderful. To access the rear screw, I shortened a 1/8†flat blade pocket screwdriver to 4†long so it would fit straight onto the screw head. IIRC I also taped a string to the screwdriver to make retrieval easier. It takes a big lump of patience, some manual dexterity, and small hands to get the third screw out and back in. I’ve not done this, but it maybe possible to take the motor off the actuator (2 small + screws) and save some hassle with the 3rd screw or even make access to the 3rd screw easier.
