The problem is the "Y" section of the hose is actually for a metal coolant pipe that lives inside the hose. One end of it comes through the short section of the "Y". (The hot pipe is supposed to prevent condensation in cold weather.)
It seems to me it should be possible to rig something up. Current replacements for these PCV hoses are way overpriced and deteriorate quickly. Who knows how long they'll even continue to be available.
