> I've been avoiding replacement of the condenser fan in my '97 CSE due to it being a real PITA job.
That was my issue
> Not only is the motor seized up on the fan that's in there, the fan blades have disintegrated.
Good. you're on your way already. I had to break off each fan blade and remove the fan from the motor. It's a 20mm nut, reverse thread and theres a lock tab on it.
> If it can come out using tin snips and use a generic fan easily put in its place I'll have to give that a try.
Yes. I removed the fan shroud from the motor, and unbolted the 3 10mm bolts that hold the frame of the motor to the condenser.
> Is there a model number, or maybe an amperage or CFM rating on that 8" fan?
Not sure... I got it a while ago I was going to use it for a intercooler fan on my 900... I think it's "A-Team Performance - Universal Type 120021 8 Inches High Performance - 1700 CFM 12 Volts Electric Radiator Cooling Fan" on amazon but that one is like 39.99, pretty sure it was cheaper.
> I see how you mounted the fan on the left side of the photo using a strip of metal, how did you attach the other side?
I reused the 10mm bolt that was for the old condenser fan! same spot!
> My AC actually works OK without the condenser fan up to about 90 degrees or so outside temperature. As temperatures rise to the mid-90s the AC gets weak at idle.
I am somewhere between wits and end with this HVAC setup.
Blows hot, sometimes won't blow hot... fan won't blow, fan will blow, steppers won't work, like when you really need a hot and toasty defrost like last weeks thunderstorms... My ACC won't calibrate.
So I think my ACC is just all janked up, I am going to try to calibrate via a ISAT before I replace but hopes are not high.
My compressor does engage the hot line to the condenser is super hot, an the line from the condenser to the Evap is not so hot, the return to the compressor isn't really cold though. So that seems to be working...
Question: Does the blend door actuator need to be pushed IN or OUT for cold air? maybe my stupid ACC is stuck on hot?
