Electric fan for '70 Saab 96 Posted by Ray Kopczynski [Email] (#681) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ray Kopczynski) on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 06:35:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Several folks have reccomended I add an electric fan to my 96 in lieu of the normal red-fan & belt - in order to improve engine efficiency, etc., etc.
Did that yesterday but ran into a problem. Fan is a 10" diameter that *just* clears the radiator & grille. Rather than addin the tiny "sensor" that mounts to the radiator itself, we opted for a real in-line thermostat culled from a 900. Works wonderful! However, even when the engine is simply at idle, the fan never seems to move enough air to drop the temp gauge needle down to the "N" mark as it was with the OEM setup. Driving the car with the additional air coming through, temperature does drop to the more normal range.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to brand/model of fan that will work well with the 96 - and where I may acquire one?
