hi, if you are alice, please don't answer as these are serious questions for someone that knows saabs...

i am due for a new car. my last saab was a '95 900 lease. i loved it and returned it in '98. now i am driving an suv and need to get back into a performance sedan.

(1)
i have a quote for a 2001 9-3 se for $28,000.00 from a local dealer for cash. good price?

(2)
yesterday, i drove a 2001 325 just for fun and felt the following:
a.
seemed roomier inside despite only 2" wider.

b.
with the sports package i felt it handled better than the 9-3 base. i haven't road tested the se which is what i would purchase. the dealer here doesn't have an se for me to drive. does the sport chassis make a big difference on the 9-3? i hope so.

c.
i am not a bmw guy. i despise the popularity and arrogance asssociated with driving one of these.. but, i have to admit that the overall finish of the car impressed me over the 9-3. it seems bigger inside to me and after driving it, the saab just looks outdated to me. if i never drove the bmw, i would not be even blinking. compared to the 28k price, the bmw can't match the saab in terms of options. loaded the way i want, the bmw is $36,000.00 and out of my range. at equal cost, i would be left with plastic seats, no roof ect.. anyway, i am thinking of holding off to see if the next generation saabs come out in 2002 because i fear that when they do, i will feel my saab is so outdated.

d.
when the '94's came out i thought saab blew it with the new design, but now i really like the current generation. when the new generations come out, am i going have that more classic feeling or, that left back feeling?

would you wait? or even consider a stripped down bmw because they are up to date? typically, i drive my cars for the long haul.

also, one more question,, i like how the bimmers dash matches the interior selection while saab gives you the standard grey no matter what seats you pick,, for this reason, i am considering the black interior so it all matches better. am i being too picky?

thanks,, i need to order a car and need some support here.
