I did the opposite. Traded a 97 BMW 328csi for the Viggen coupe. I find the ride to be the same. The only thing I liked better on the BMW was that the handling was superior to that of the Viggen. The only thing I hated about the BMW (despite traction control) was the bad handling in the rain and snow. The Viggen handles bad weather very well. Overall they are pretty much a wash. With either car you will have significant depreciation in the first year - the BMW will hold its value better over time. Expect the insurance costs on the BMW to be much higher.

My plan is to keep the 00 Viggen until 02 and then treat myself to an M3.

I still love those BMWs, but I am really enjoying the Saab as well.
