I had my 2001 Saab 93 stolen and totaled (arson) a week ago. (Yes they are hard to steal, in this case, they stole the keys, and then the car.) Just starting the process of looking for a replacement. I'm not sure how thrilled I am about the new 93, is it truely a Saab or just a very nice Chevy Malibu?

I test drove the convertable, then thought about it and realized that it is way out of my price range. Maybe the Arc or Aero. I'm interested to hear the thoughts of others who had the classic style 93 and have tested or replaced with the new Sedan body style.

Some things I noticed:
Liked:
Like the new steering wheel with the metalic package or plain, but not the wood package...the wood one felt like a piece of plastic.
Like the seats.
Like the 220 hp engine.
Like the transmition in the automatic, but not so much the manual.
Cool new cup holder.
Didn't like
1) lots of green light from the new stereo in the Arc and Aero. This is tied to the same dimmer for the dashboard gagues, so can't seperately adjust it. Looks like someone was collecting fire flies when I was driving.
2) Phone button is useless unless you use Onstar phone system...now why would anyone with a cell phone want to sign up for a seperate plan for their car?!?!
3) no Aux input for stereo to hook up MP3 player
4) miss the cavernous space of the hatchback...I used to throw my mountain bike back there all the time
5) wood finish out is pretty cheap feeling. Compared to Audi A4 and the finish out they do with wood is much better.

There are plenty of $$$ in rebates on the table in my market (tx). They offered $500 buyer loyality and $3000 rebate on the Arc+ i work for a company considered a GM partner, so there is about $1500 off list for the GM partner program. With all that money, they are attractive in price, but there are other great deals out there too...(Audi is my town is offering 3000 off the 2003 A4 3.0 quattro, putting it around 4k more than the Arc, but you're getting the quattro + 10 more hp.)

Ok, so thoughts everyone/Anyone?
