I have a set of 195/60-15 Nokian NRWs on my '97 900 SET (minus 1 size from the 205/50-16's). I have had very good luck with them over the last three New England (albeit, fairly mild) winters. I would call them a good all around snow tire. They do not have the largest lugs (for deep snow) or the most sipes (for ice), but once the roads are dry they are not too squirmy and they are "H" speed rated. If I lived in northern NE, I would have probably purchased the Nokian Hakka 1's instead.
You should select a tire based on the typical winter road conditions in YOUR area. If you get a lot of snow and drive on unplowed roads, you prob want a tire with big, open lugs (maybe even half or full studded); if mostly ice or freezing rain, you want a soft compound with a lot of sipes.
